From a tropical island in Thailand to the islands of Montreal and Montserrat in the Carribean, a philandering chef’s search for the Zen of cooking leads to the secrets of love.
Gus (David LaHaye) is a confident and successful Montreal chef is sent off to southern Thailand to learn the Zen of cooking. On the beach of an island paradise he meets Lek (“Mamee”), a young woman who promises to make him the best Thai chef. A romantic relationship soon develops, but it becomes unclear if Gus is a lover, student or prisoner. When he finally flees, in a near death experience, he ends up under the care of a guru (Dr. Mohan Agashe) who implies that his journey to the Far East has deep, divine implications. As he returns home, he falls under the spell of the woman of his life (Leah Pinsent), who unfortunately craves for only his cooking but not his loving. The stage is set for him to take the 1st Bite of true love...
