A portrait of restless urbanites searching for meaning through love, sex, drugs, and political rebellion. Directed with a nod to the French New Wave, the film imagines a trio of responses to the current cultural and political climate. Mackenzie Firgens stars as the aptly named Hope, a young woman with an undercurrent of vague idealism, but no real direction. Her best friend Francine (Lauren Fox) dismisses philosophy and meaning, living day to day for the temporary highs of sex and drugs. When Hope begins an affair with Frankie (Samuel Child), a would-be revolutionary involved in a subversive plot to attack an unknown target, the stakes are kicked up a few notches. But soon Frankie and Francine’s paths begin to spiral downward out of control, and they threaten to drag Hope down with them.
