Silencio Roto
Directed by Montxo Aremendariz
In the wake of the Spanish Civil War, a number of the Republican guerillas who fought against Franco's fascist army have gone into hiding in the mountains and continue their resistance. Upon returning to her small village, young Lucia meets and falls in love with Manuel, the handsome ironsmith. The “Maquis” stage a raid on the town, freeing a number of Republicans from jail with Manuel’s help, drawing the attention and wrath of Franco's Civil Guard. Manuel must flee and Lucía discovers the reality of political repression, the silence, the horror and fear.
